Dogs of the Sea

This morning, pulling crab pots, the dolphins came over to check us out.

The dog smells their mammal breath and knows they are his kin.

  1. Awesome.....the dolphins must be curious about the land-dog too.

Out surfing yesterday the local pack of dolphins hung around for ages. It was that kind of lazy day, not much swell so a general air of calm. One mum training her baby to hunt too.

  2. Wicked! They have no worries about us humans, hey? Curious creatures, they seem to like coming up to the boat and seeing what we are up to.

  3. Wonderful picture, Sarah. We were followed by dolphins along the Bosphorus once - leaping about amongst rusty super-tankers, right in the heart of Istanbul.

  4. I like how this dolphin is looking up at Digger. "How's it going Bro? Wanna come for a swim?"

  5. Yeah, I have had them eye-ball me too when I have been sitting up right in the bow of a yacht watching them cruise really close like they are doing in your pic.

  6. Yep, lovely photo that! But is it real? I think you've staged it. That's really Old Salt pretending to be a dolphin. Jee's the things Old Salt will do to keep you fisher-she folk happy!!

  7. Huh, a bit slim for Old Salt! Maybe a big-man seal but not a sleek dolphin :D
