The Restless Waves

A singer songwriter said of the Dirty Three that they have taught him to value his every word. Why say anything unworthy when you can tweak a fiddle the way of Warren Ellis? Watch this til the last frame ... far out.

  1. Why did that depress the hell out of me, I wonder?

  2. That sort of melancholia goes with living in cold climates. WTF were they doing out there anyway?

  3. Cannot abide Dirty Three. Just don't get why they are so well regarded. Get a fucking bass player for god's sake!

  4. Well! Maybe it is just me who finds a melancholic dirge completely thrilling. Combine with the clip of ice floes, mad seas and that poor foundering boat ... I just love this stuff.

  5. Yeah, I get it.....something cleansing about getting that cold and melancholic, at times.

  6. Funny. I know these guys in the backyard dinner kind of way. The drummer, Jim White, is regarded as one of the best in the world. But on my current classical regime I find it a little difficult to listen to their recordings. Live they have real power. Incredible.
