I just love this album Spinifex Gum. It's a collaboration project between the Gondwana Children's quoir and Felix Reibl from Cat Empire and includes contributions from Peter Garret and the rapper Senator Briggs among others. Most of the songs are framed around our north west and issues like mining and land, river course usage and native title.
Wow that was beautiful. It might have been a sugar rush from the ANZAC biscuit I'd just eaten, but I got goosebumps. There's something special about choirs.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there? A good choir makes me goosey. I think I wrote about seeing a mate sing live in Handel's Messiah and it just did me in. The other choirs I love are the Eastern European ones like the Bulgarian Women's Choir. Marliya is comprised primarily of Indigenous kids from all over the country. They are struggling a bit with rehearsals at the moment obvs.
