Heading for the coast

  1. The sea was absolutely surging through the channel, so rising tide I guess. Looked like some decent waves out there but that's fine thanks. On the way home we broke down and had to row for an hour!

  2. You live in a fantastically beautiful area. All we hear about the coast is the latest shark attack.

    1. Yes that is a shame because it's pretty incredible. It's not just very large alpha species biting each other.

  3. Our inlet probably won't open again this year. I've never seen the water so far back from the sea. I don't even think the council could do it if they tried. I was concerned because of all the effluant that goes in there - it needs flushing out. But someone told me the inlet has never been healthier and the fish are doing really well, even crabs are back! I guess they did some good work around cleaning it up and stopping runoff.

    1. Yes that's interesting, so I gather Wilsons didn't open from the sea side? Apparently Irwins didn't either. Maybe it was just Broke, and I don't think she would have broken this year but for the massive swells.
It's beautiful here, the water is so clear because it's salt water now, not tannin stained. All of the snot weed had been cleansed from the inlet too. The tideline is kelpy with flotsam so we can even go beach combing.
Apparently it will be a wet winter, so you may find the break will be later, like September if at all. I hope it breaks. It's always good for the health of the inlet, tho I have misgivings about artificial breaking. Inlet knows best.
