Tonight the aluminium window slid shut on its own and my daughter Pearlie peered outside, a bit spooked, to see Bobcat staring at her in the dark eve before the moonrise.
"Don't worry. That was Bob," I said and at that moment I realised what day it is.
It's been four years.
Hey Bob ... hello there mate.
Huh. The mystery of Bob.
ReplyDeleteHello Cathy. Follow the bob tags if you want to know about my old mate.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had a similar experience when she saw the Archbishop of Canterbury staring at her through a hedge once.
ReplyDelete(I've just been told to keep my comments to myself by another Australian blogger who is really keen on good manners. Some people have no sense of humour, but - I admit - I thought she was a man when I left the comment. Please don't tell me off...)
Splendid work Tom, kicked off an Aussie blog!
Delete4 years, not much time at all, time enough to remember, time enough to heal. I love that you keep Bob's life alive. 2008, a year of death, a year of life.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why I do that here Merc,
Deleteexcept that him leaving us was kind of the beginning of A WineDark Sea.
I never met him, never even saw a picture of him before. I'd have liked to though. Looking at this and thnking back over the those four years makes me feel like I met someone and missed someone both at the same time...
ReplyDeleteYes, I can imagine you two would have had some interesting conversations Ciaran.
DeleteI still remember his 'pre-wake', the big party you put on while he was still alive. Doesn't seem like 4 years.
ReplyDeleteNow That was a party!
DeleteNo, it doesn't Michelle. Like I wrote, I'd forgotten all about it until the window thing last night.
Hi Sarah. Just reacquainting myself with your blog when I came across this Bob post. It's an honour for me to be pictured jamming with the old fella. He was such a natural musician, where as while I can play I really have to work at it. Do you have the complete photo file from that night? There are a few more good Bob shots that I can send you if you like.
ReplyDeleteI'd love you to Spencer. I think that is the only one I have.
